Location: Halle/Saale

TASK

The celebrations for the Day of German Unity 2021 were held under the motto "Shaping the future together" and were organized by the state of Saxony-Anhalt as part of the Federal Council Presidency. Due to the situation for events still characterized by the pandemic, a silent presentation in public space was planned instead of a citizens' festival. The EinheitsEXPO from September 18 to October 3, 2021 was to include the presentation of the federal states, constitutional bodies, the host federal state and the city of Halle/Saale as well as the Zipfel municipalities. A worthy conclusion was desired for the end of the celebrations.

SOLUTION

Following a Europe-wide tender, FAIRNET was awarded the contract for the conception, planning, organization and implementation of the EinheitsEXPO. For 16 days, the exhibition could be experienced as a silent presentation in public spaces and central squares in Halle's city center. The squares were linked by various themed routes. For orientation, there were a total of 97 traverse towers as a guidance and information system. At the heart of the presentations were 34 glass event cubes, which were designed by the federal states and distributed along a 4.5-kilometer circular route in the city. There were also nine themed islands and three art installations designed by regional artists. The striking logo as a central design element could also be seen on 48 EXPO cubes, which invited visitors to sit and linger at the exhibition locations.

The final highlight on October 3 was a multimedia and drone show with a total of 200 drones in the night sky as well as light effects and image projections on the façade of Burg Giebichenstein, accompanied by a specially assembled unity orchestra and live artists.
