Event/Location: Berlin & Paris

TASK

The Fraunhofer Aviation & Space Alliance wanted to combine its analog trade fair presence with digital elements to clearly present its automation solutions for sustainable aircraft construction and climate-friendly flying.

SOLUTION

Together with Talsand, FAIRNET integrated a virtual reality corner into the trade fair stand. Here, visitors entered a virtual aircraft hangar using VR goggles. After an intro and explanations of the controls, the tour continued in three themed areas. The Fraunhofer Lounge offered general information about the research organization. The machine area showed current development projects in aircraft construction. Various technical components could be controlled separately and additional information could be accessed via graphics and videos. The third area led into the aircraft interior, where a new Fraunhofer development in the field of aircraft planning was presented in the galley.

The application was used for the first time at the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) 2022 in Berlin. During the trade fair, the VR views were shown in parallel on monitors and expert contacts responded directly to questions. At the same time, the stand attracted the attention of passing visitors. The concept was also implemented at the SIAE Paris Airshow 2023.
