Location: Wittenberg

TASK

To mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017, a large exhibition was to be created in a public space in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. Guests from all over the world were to immerse themselves in the past and present of the Reformation.

SOLUTION

The Wittenberg World Exhibition brought the history of the Reformation to life in the historic ramparts and old town of Wittenberg. From the complex planning processes to the supervision of the "gate rooms" and individual exhibitors to special projects, FAIRNET realized around 70 different individual orders. The implementation took place under consideration of complex conditions, as the World Reformation Exhibition was created both in a public space and in a historic garden monument and in a city with four UNESCO World Heritage buildings.

Along the historic ramparts of Wittenberg, there were seven gateways with installations on overarching themes. The artistic design was based on entries from a university competition and FAIRNET coordinated the measures from planning to structural implementation as required. At the same time, preparations were underway for the festival weekend on the Elbe meadows south of Lutherstadt, another highlight of the Reformation anniversary.
